Baltimore, Maryland—long one of the busiest ports of entry for immigrants coming to the United States—has a proud Irish heritage, one the city celebrates with plenty of green gusto during its very own St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
It’s a tradition Baltimore’s observed on March 17 for better than a half-century, and it draws thousands of participants and spectators in one great sea of green between downtown and the Inner Harbor.

The parade, which follows right on the heels of the popular Shamrock 5K run, gets going at the Washington Monument, then works its way down Charles and Pratt streets to Market Place. Irish dancers, pipe bands, and other troupes ensure the proceedings maintain plenty of high energy and Celtic spirit.
